Ha! It is one of those things that always looks more impressive than the skill that went into making it. =P
All you need is a camera, a tripod and Photoshop with the Flexify plug-in.
Take photos in a circle with the tripod until you have covered a full 360 degrees. Load em' into Photoshop by going to File/Automate/Photomerge, select cylindrical from the menu and then let Photoshop do its magic. After it is done, you'll be left with a flat panorama that can be opened in Flexify and made into a planet like the one I made.
I'd love to be able to do that 360 thing with photos but I'm too damn thick!

Eoghan, I use Photoshop 6, lol. There ain't no photomerge. At least now I know it can be done :-)
